Tyson Busenbark WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?
Tyson Busenbark had just turned 16 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer, and given less than a year to live. His confident spirit stayed strong, and he lived his life to his fullest capacity for not only the next year, but another year following that! Even through tremendous pain, endless treatments, and severe weight loss, he truly lived the words that became his message to other teenagers, "NEVER GIVE UP."His courage and strength was so contagious, that he affected all those who got a chance to know him, including the new Nashville country group, Due West. They were so taken by him, that they would just show up at his high school and do an impromptu performance. They also donated their concert proceeds to him and his family for their medical expenses. As one of his last requests, Tyson asked Jason Deere (Due West Producer and writer for SheDaisy, Jessica Simpson, and Lady Antebellum) to write a song for him and his mother, so that he would be remembered.Jason invited his good friend and songwriter Trina Harmon (Jessica Simpson, Amy Grant/Vince Gill, Hillary Duff, and Jesse McCartney) to help write this special song for Tyson. She said, "We knew this song was beyond us, and beyond our comprehension. How do you possibly know what it's like to be in this kid's shoes?" On her way to Nashville to write with Jason, Trina ran into an artist and close friend, Josh Snyder from Orlando, FL. Josh is a 3 time cancer survivor and is only in his late 20's. "Something just told me we needed Josh in the room with us to write this song. I wanted his 'survivor' spirit, and his understanding to be infused in whatever happened. Once we all got in a room together, and spoke to Tyson on the phone, the song pretty much wrote itself."A few months later, in May 2008, on the night of his senior graduation, over 100 classmates and friends gathered on Tyson's front lawn holding candles and sang worship songs, as each one walked in and hugged him goodbye. Aug 1st, 2008, Tyson lost his battle with cancer, but he is forever remembered for the love and the message he gave to the world. In May of 2009, a production company of the new movie, "Letters to God", was searching the internet for the founder of a new cancer organization out of Orlando, FL to tie into their film. It happened to be the brand new, booming organization, KNOW CANCER (www.knowcancer.com) which was started and conceptualized by Josh Snyder! He had the song "Everything Is Beautiful" on his MySpace site, and the production company loved it so much, they had to have it for their film. This special movie is based on a true story about a young boy's journey with cancer, and is due out March 2010. Trina adds, "Throughout my career, I've had to fight to get songs heard and out into the world.I love how this song just finds its own way, and leads us to where it is needed the most. I like to think Tyson is still with us, getting his message heard."Life is so much shorter than any of us realize. And we are never guaranteed a tomorrow. What do you want to be remembered for?
